Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often from both individual customers and trade partners — on purity, pricing, buy-back, and VAT.

Purity & Karats

What do the purity markings (995, 999.9, 22K, 21K, 18K, 14K) mean?

Purity is expressed either as a fineness number (parts per 1000 of pure metal) or in karats (parts per 24). 999.9 and 995 are bullion-grade fineness figures used for bars and coins; 22K, 21K, 18K and 14K describe the gold content in jewellery, where the remainder is alloyed with other metals for durability and colour. Our bullion certification references LBMA-accredited sourcing and spot-fixing pricing; jewellery purity follows UAE hallmarking standards.

Making Charges

How are making charges calculated?

Making charges for jewellery vary by design, weight, and craftsmanship — they are quoted separately from the gold content value and confirmed at the time of purchase.

VAT

Is gold subject to VAT in the UAE?

The UAE applies a standard 5% VAT on jewellery, including making and design charges. Investment-grade bullion (99% purity or higher, in bar, coin, or ingot form recognised on global bullion markets) is zero-rated. For qualifying business-to-business transactions between VAT-registered companies, a reverse charge mechanism may apply, meaning VAT is accounted for by the buyer rather than charged at the point of sale. Eligible tourists can reclaim VAT paid on jewellery purchases through the UAE's official tourist refund scheme. This is general guidance only — for advice specific to your transaction, please consult a licensed tax advisor.

Buy-Back Policy

Do you buy back gold and silver?

We buy back gold and silver at the prevailing market rate at the time of sale, based on verified weight and purity.

Certification

How is purity certified?

Our investment-grade bullion is sourced from LBMA-accredited refiners and priced against the LBMA spot fixing benchmark. Jewellery purity is stamped and verified per UAE hallmarking standards at the point of sale.
